Me and my Internet

Husband, Dad, Navy Officer, Coder, and Tinkerer. I have many interests and am always looking to learn something new. This site is a launching point to the many areas of the Internet that represent me.

  1. Tickle Age

“One…” her head whips around to watch you and her eyes light up. “Two…” she starts to wiggle and smile. “THREE!!!” she screams with delight as the Tickle Monster attacks her belly, sides, and underarms. Yup, that’s a normal game in our house.  Little Lady LOVES to be tickled.  Her Dad on the other hand… I hate being tickled.  I’m one of those people that if I fear someone might even being thinking of a... 2. DIY: Christmas Lights No-Tangle Storage

Today I had a guest post published over at Never Naptime (my loving Wife’s blog).  We were working on getting the house back to ‘normal’ now that Christmas has come and gone and we needed a good way to store the Christmas lights, as not to get all tangled up over the 11 months they weren’t in use. 3. 2013: A Year of Inspect and Adapt

I have never been one for New Years resolutions. I always stood by the fact that one should always be doing what they can to better themselves. However, this past year I dove into Scrum and really tried to embrace the concept of inspect and adapt. This showed me the value and absolute necessity for a time box, though. How can you inspect and adapt your actions without time constraints? So, here we are. Nothing... [read more]

  4. Little Perspective

Funny how some of the smallest actions from the littlest of ladies can sometimes seem so profound. On a family trip to Kohl’s, Little Lady was not happy.  Wife wanted to go look at some post-Christmas clearance items, so in an attempt to not reign chaos on all the discount hounds, Little Lady and I found the absolute safest (for both us and the merchandise) aisle, comforters and bed sets, and played on the ground... 5. I Pledge Allegiance

I love our flag.  I love what it represents.  It is a beautiful flag.  I came across the following essay, worth a read. I am the Flag by Ruth Apperson Rous I am the flag of the United States of America. I was born on June 14, 1777, in Philadelphia. There the Continental Congress adopted my stars and stripes as the national flag. My thirteen stripes alternating red and white, with a union of thirteen... [read more]

  6. Merry Stinkin' Christmas

I am of the thinking that of all days throughout the year, Christmas, is the day that the largest percentage of people do not shower.  And yes, for full disclosure, I did not shower today. It really makes perfect sense.  You roll out of bed, don’t have to shave for work, don’t have to brush your hair… so you immediately go to breakfast and then to opening presents.  By the time present opening is finished... 7. Good Girl

Sometimes I wonder if growing up with dogs my entire life wasn’t necessarily the best thing… You see, now that I have a daughter, I have this weird mindset where I compare everything she does to the what the dogs can do.  On the plus side I am completely amazed with what Little Lady has been doing recently.  Recognizing songs and singing “Ee-I-Ee-I-Oh”, finding her baby doll and putting her in a toy stroller to... 8. Snuggles

Little Lady is rather independent.  This is not really a good nor is it really a bad thing.  More just a thing.  She loves to play on her own with all her toys.  Sure she loves the occasional company of a parent, a helping hand with a spoon or a difficult puzzle, but more often than not, she is rather content just doing her own thing. This evening the family and I found ourselves at... [read more]

  9. R.E.M. 12-21-12 Hoax Blown Wide Open

The American rock band R.E.M. is likely soon to be in custody as word of the band’s hoax reaches the mainstream.  Ever since the band’s first rehearsals in the early 1980’s, their eyes were set not on guitar solos and lyrics but on gaining world power and controlling the thoughts and emotions of the ordinary person. Sources close to the band, that will remain anonymous due to the level of visibility this hoax has reached,... [read more]

  10. Lincoln: Compasses and Maps

Compass A compass is true.  When you desire to know a direction, a compass should be your tool of choice.  If used properly, a compass will not lie.  No matter how many times you find yourself spinning in circles… the compass will remain steady. Map A map provides guidance.  When you desire to know your surroundings and where perils may fall, a map should be your tool of choice.  If used properly, a map will... [read more]
