Me and my Internet

Husband, Dad, Navy Officer, Coder, and Tinkerer. I have many interests and am always looking to learn something new. This site is a launching point to the many areas of the Internet that represent me.

  1. Gas is not just 4/gallon... well above...

That’s right, with a weekend trip up to San Francisco, I have now seen gas prices well above the $4.00 / gallon mark… no good… no good. Thanks to Sean and his phone for the picture! [read more]

  2. The Mystery of the Badge

No matter what I do, my ID badge that I wear attached to my belt will always turn around so that the back of the badge is facing out and the picture side is facing towards me… You know those little hooks that have the spring loaded string so that your badge can be moved away from your body?  Well, yeah, I have one of those and it does not cooperate.  I have tried everything,... 3. The importance of being busier than you

Isn’t it funny how we compare ourselves for self-satisfaction or maybe competition with others. During a busy week at school, you can hear any kid (myself included) going up and down the halls to and from classes complaining to friends and acquaintances alike, “I was so busy last night, you have no idea.” The last part, an unneeded appendage to the complete substance of the sentence, you have no idea, says it all. It says... [read more]

  4. Hello from California

Dear Readers, I am finally in California.  The drive was very long, but an enjoyable one.  Once arriving in the Cupertino/Sunnyvale area, the apartment search didn’t seem to go as smoothly as hoped at first, but in the end, I think things have worked out very nicely.  I have a new apartment in Sunnyvale that is in a gorgeous complex with a heated swimming pool, tennis court, sand volleyball court, club house and everything.  I... 5. In between time

I am just south of Atlanta, Georgia.  I will get back home to Mason later tonight and start packing again.  Monday I have all day to pack and say my “see ya laters” then Tuesday back on the road again for 2500 miles west to San Jose, CA. The cruise was great fun, here’s the itenerary: Day 1: Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale, FL Day 2: Key West, FL Day 3: Fun Day at Sea Day... [read more]

  6. Happy Birthday Blog

Today is the 1st birthday of The Blarged Blog. Yes, one year ago today was the first post. Lot’s has happened in the past year, a lot of which I have written about and a lot of which I have not. Let’s see, one year ago I was just finishing up Winter quarter while working at Kroger downtown. I was going to be moving up into Blue Ash to start working for the WIN team.... [read more]

  7. Arrested Development

Due to some persistent nagging of some friends, I have started working my way through the show Arrested Development.  I’m pretty sure the show has been finished for a few years, but according to the guys, its a must see. I am about six episodes into the first season and enjoying it.  The best way to describe it is… its like a bedtime story, a really strange and dysfunctional bedtime story.  I like it! The... 8. Birds

Birds have started to take over our house… It started last night when I was sitting up on the couch working with Mandy on one of her Java programming projects.  Sean comes up and says that he thinks we have an animal in our water heater.  I head down to the basement, and sure enough, in the steam tube on top of the water heater we hear some scratching noises.  All of a sudden, out... 9. Welcome to Apple

I got a FedEx package that had ‘Welcome to Apple’ written on it! That’s right, I will be working for Apple come Spring and Summer quarters.  I will be headed out to Cupertino, California to work for Apple’s Architecture and Performance hardware group.  I am very excited about the opportunity to work for Apple and am very much looking forward to getting there. It is kinda sad though that I’ll be leaving everyone here for... [read more]

  10. Someone is trying to be me

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I start and end my day in the same room in Baldwin.  The 9am class is Network Programming.  The 3pm class is Wireless and Mobile Networking.  For the first 3 or so weeks of the quarter I sat in the same class for each class.  Second row/left side/furthest seat left for Network Programming and Fourth row/right side/furthest seat to the right for Wireless and Mobile Networking.  And it was good....
