Lasik: Day after
I went to my day after follow up appointment at LasikPlus this morning. Just 19 hours after the surgery which includes “day of” nap and a full night of sleep last night, my vision is at 20/15! That is the same quality of vision I had with my glasses! Everything is looking great today. Last night things were clearing up quickly but I could tell that something was a little bit off. Today the ‘off’... [read more]

Lasik: Evening after
Today was the big day, I went under the knife (laser) and got a new set of eyes! My appointment was for 3:00pm this afternoon and I showed up at LasikPlus about 2:40pm. There was no need to get there that early as Melissa and I just sat there until 3:00pm. 3:00pm on the dot, however, the secretary called me up to sign my papers. LasikPlus didn’t have written down that I was going to... [read more]

Lasik: Before
Introduction I started wearing glasses in the 6th grade. My older brother had started wearing glasses not long before so for one reason or another I was kind of excited about getting my own glasses. Goodness, how the mentality has changed. I just scheduled my Lasik appointment for this upcoming Monday, December 14th at LasikPlus Vision Institute. Over the past week I have visited four different clinics in the Cincinnati area: Midwest Eye Center Lasik... [read more]

Bathroom Concierge
Ever since I was 2 or so years old … I was able to go to the bathroom all on my own. Now that I am 24 years old, I have had about 22 years of experience doing my business, and might I add, I do my business just fine. Lately I have been thinking about not just the purpose, but also the type of person that is a bathroom concierge. I doubt there has... [read more]

My new favorite desk
Currently, I am on the University of Cincinnati’s campus … on the 8th floor of Baldwin Hall … in the Engineering Library … at a desk located on the west end of the TP 155.C54 - TP 159.M4 book stacks. I love this desk! For the past four years, I have made my way up here to the library to enjoy good times watching YouTube videos, Hulu, play games such as Euchre or Settlers of... [read more]

The Pledge of Allegiance
Recently, I was forwarded a video of Red Skelton’s “Pledge of Allegiance” short. I remember back to my days as a cub scout, one of the tasks (were they called merit points or something of the likes?) in our book was to discuss the meaning of our Pledge of Allegiance with an adult. I can still remember talking with my Dad about our Pledge. I don’t remember the exact conversation we had, but I can... [read more]

In the system
After swearing in, I have been working with my Officer Recruiter and Officer Processor, still, to get all the administrative tasks out of the way. These things have included enrolling me in DEERS and getting my pay set up. First I had to wait for my official orders, which were more or less “be cool, stay in school”. My orders stated that I was to remain in contact with my OR and finish up my... [read more]

Swearing In
On October 7th, 2009 … I raised my right hand … I, Jason Pawlak, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform... Finding My Opinions
Once upon a time I lived a very sheltered life. This time I refer to as … High School. This sheltered time was not due to any harsh restrictions set on by my parents, but more my own blinders that I had set on my own path. My eyes were set on music and the notes were all I could see. My days and nights year round were filled with so many ensembles that rehearsed... [read more]

Final Select
I got the phone call I’ve been waiting so long for today! My Final Select letter has arrived and everything is squared away for me to swear in to the United States Navy! There hasn’t been any posts since my Professionally Recommended post, and that has been on purpose. There hasn’t really been too much to report without me sounding too whiny, haha. Over the past four months, since my pro-rec, I have been in... [read more]
