It has been a while since I have run a race. The last one was probably the Thanksgiving day Turkey Trot in Cincinnati. But today was a whole lot of fun. A quick little 5K, the First Annual Ready, Set Go! 5K Fun Run. The race was held at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. I had never been to that park before, but I will definitely try and go back at least a few more times. There looks to be lots of different ‘activities’ around the park.
But anyway, the race was good. It was sponsored by and proceeds went to the SFBay Red Cross. Being the first annual, there weren’t that many people running. I don’t know the exact number, but I know I saw bib numbers in the 100’s. My guess is there were near 150 people running, so definitely a small race. Being a small race had its benefits though, you saw the same people over and over again, which I think is a plus. After the race I stuck around for a Red Cross talk on Disaster Awareness, Awards, and Raffle. Really it was just so nice to sit out in the sun and relax.
Now I’m going to have to go back to my list of races to pick out my next one. But for now… here’s my stats:
Length: 5K (3.1 miles) Overall: 34/150(ish) Time: 27:09 Pace: 8:45
